Music classes at Saint Dominic Elementary School teach students to develop skills and understanding of the basic elements of music. Lessons focus on using a variety of experiences to make music experien­tial, including body percussion, speech, singing, movement, folk dance, games, drama and the playing of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.

Third graders learn to play recorders, which allows them to explore music composition, performance, music history and appreciation. Students also have the opportunity to receive instruction on flute, clarinet, drums, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, violin and cello, which culminates in a band and orchestra ensem­ble.
