As the United States becomes more diverse, the value of being able to communicate in more than one lan­guage becomes even more important. Saint Dominic Elementary School provides students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade with Spanish language classes to help prepare them more thoroughly for the future.

The Spanish program emphasizes that students acquire a practical knowledge in speaking, reading, writ­ing and understanding the language. Students also learn about the cultural aspects of the Spanish lan­guage, which allows them to not only learn to speak the language but to “experience” it as well. The pro­gram teaches students basic grammatical structures, vocabulary acquisiton and sentence structure.
