Students who attend Saint Dominic Elementary School receive instruction from a highly trained and experienced faculty. Nearly all of Saint Dominic’s teachers have earned master’s degrees and combined, they have a more than 200 years worth of teaching experience.
Sister Constance has incorporated Montessori principles into her Saint Dominic Elementary School classrooms since 1983. She taught in the kindergarten for 5 years, and start the pre-kindergarten program in 1987. Prior to Saint Dominic’s, Sister Constance taught at Our Lady of Grace Montessori School in Manhasset for ten years. She graduated from Xavier Jesuit University in Cincinnati with a master’s degree in education and a Montessori concentration. She also attended the Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in Chicago, where she received her Montessori certification.
Mrs. D’Angelo joined Saint Dominic Elementary School’s pre-kindergarten program in 1997. Prior to that, she taught at Christ Church Preschool for 3 years after receiving her associate’s degree from SUNY, Farmingdale.
Since 1987, Miss King has taught Kindergarten at St. Dominic Elementary School. She is a graduate of Cortland College and received her master’s degree in early childhood education from Adelphi University.
Mrs. Zarzycki became Saint Dominic Elementary School’s kindergarten aide in 2005, after graduating with her master’s degree in early childhood and bachelor’s degree in early childhood from C.W. Post.
Mrs. Paterson has been at Saint Dominic Elementary School since 1998, originally teaching 5th grade for three years before changing to the 1st grade. Mrs. Paterson graduated from Molloy College, where she received her teaching certification while majoring in history and a master’s degree from Adelphi University, where she became certified to teach pre-K to grade 12 reading.
Mrs. Rizzo-Bossong joined Saint Dominic Elementary School in 2002, becoming the 2nd grade teacher after two years of teaching reading. She received her master’s degree in education from C.W. Post.
Since 1978, Mrs. Mahon has taught 3rd grade for Saint Dominic Elementary School. She received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Maywood University in Scranton, PA.
Mrs. Siviglia joined Saint Dominic Elementary School in 1998. Previously, Mrs. Siviglia taught at All Saints in Glen Cove and Saint Rocco for 11 years. She earned her undergraduate degree from C.W. Post and her master’s degree from Adelphi University.
In 2007, Mrs. Awad became Saint Dominic Elementary School’s 5th grade teacher. In 2006, she served as the leave replacement teacher for Mrs. Paterson’s 1st grade class. An educator since 1997, Mrs. Awad previously taught at Saint Cyril and Methodius in Deer Park as the computer lab teacher. She received a bachelor of science in secondary education from Hofstra University and a master’s degree in elementary education from Long Island University at C.W. Post.
Mrs. Winter joined the faculty at Saint Dominic Elementary School in 1990. Prior to that, she had a successful career in the business world. Mrs. Winter received her undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology from Molloy College. She also holds a master’s degree in curriculum and development from C.W. Post and earned her social work certification from Molloy College through its affiliation with Adelphi University.
Mrs. Bifulco joined Saint Dominic Elementary School in 2003. Prior to that, she taught for 15 years at St. Joseph’s Parish Day School in Astoria, Queens. Mrs. Bifulco received both her undergraduate degree in social studies and graduate degree in reading from St. John’s University. In addition to teaching 7th grade, Mrs. Bifulco runs book clubs for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
Mrs. Grehan began her teaching career overseas at the British International School of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. After returning to the United States, Mrs. Grehan taught at St. Joseph’s in Garden City. She has taught at Saint Dominic Elementary School since 2001. She is a New York state-certified mathematics teacher for grades 7 through 12.
Mrs. Ramsdell has been an educator for the past 33 years, joining Saint Dominic Elementary School in 2000. In 2004, she was nominated and accepted into Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, with a bachelor’s degree of science in physical education and biology.
Prior to joining Saint Dominic Elementary School in 1995, Mrs. Barnett taught 2nd grade in public schools. She received her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Catholic University in Washington and her master’s degree in special education at Hofstra University.
Mrs. DeChiara received both her master’s degree in computers and education and her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from C.W. Post. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from SUNY, Farmingdale. She became Saint Dominic Elementary School’s computer teacher in 2002 after teaching at Saint Joseph’s for 11 years. Altogether, she has taught in the diocese of Rockville Center since 1989.
A native of Italy, Mrs. Morabito-Smith became Saint Dominic Elementary School’s Spanish teacher in 2004. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from SUNY Stonybook, after earning an associate’s degree from Suffolk Community College.
Mrs. Reinhard became a member of the Saint Dominic Elementary School team in 1989 after graduating from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, where she received a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Mrs. Reinhard also earned a master’s degree from Hofstra University in health education. She was inducted into Canisius’s Sports College Hall of Fame in 2003.
Mrs. Tyas joined Saint Dominic Elementary School’s nursing staff in 2001. She attended Nassau Community College, where she attained an associate’s degree in science.
