St. Dominic Elementary School

All students in kindergarten through 8th grade participate in Saint Dominic Elementary School’s computer-based educational program. The computer education program focuses on offering students media-rich lessons by integrating students’ curriculum with various software programs, for example, preparing a Pow­erPoint presentation on energy or a shopping budget using Excel.

Students learn to use a variety of software programs, including Inspiration, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Paint. What’s more, they learn to use with proficiency the many different tools on the computer, such as the calculator and dictionary. Each of the classrooms are equipped with SMART Board technology, which allows students to have an in­teractive learning experience. Offering an in-class multimedia experience, the SMART Board allows teach­ers to display a wide variety of information, from websites to Word documents to video, which captures the attention of students by making the subject come to life.
