At Saint Dominic Elementary School, daily religion class plays a central role in helping children develop a healthy value system and fully prepare for the Sacraments. In addition, the religious education program strives to assist children to become aware of the dignity of human life. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade play an active role in celebrating Saint Dominic Elementary School’s first Friday Mass each month.
Reconciliation and First Communion: Parents of second graders attend special meetings throughout the school year in preparation for their child’s reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.
At the beginning of the year, eighth graders spend an inspirational day at a Confirmation “retreat,” which includes speakers and fun activities, learning about the different aspects of confirmation, what it means, and its importance as a rite of passage for them as Catholics in the world. Throughout the year, eighth graders attend meetings to discuss the information they need before they attend their Mass of Commitment.
